Hire stock now in excess of 700 GLP fixtures
Dry Hire Lighting (DHL) recently invested in GLP’s new JDC2 IP and impression X5 IP Maxx premium LED fixtures – both of which were immediately requisitioned by its rental customers.
The company, based in High Wycombe, UK, already owned quantities of the German manufacturer’s impression X5 IP Bars, JDC1, JDC Line, X4 Bar 20 and FUSION X-PAR 12Z, among other items. DHL confirms that it now has a stock level of over 700 GLP products.
DHL’s MD, Nic Tolkien, and business development director, Rael Hancock, says they saw potential for these latest IP-rated products across the many markets they service.
Tolkien says the driving factors had been a combination of the IP ratings, the solid build quality of GLP products, and the fact they can always expect a four-to-six-year life cycle, “unlike other brands who constantly throw new products into the market.” He adds: “They are always extremely reliable and we have very few issues.
“We receive great customer support,” continues Hancock, “backed up by an excellent service centre and generally great ethos. For instance, during the pandemic they were one of the few companies that weren’t constantly trying to sell kit to us but simply engaged with us.”
Nic Tolkien says that while DHL is generally reactive in its purchases, responding to the requests of customers and their designers, this time it was different: “We could see JDC2 IP was going to be a success after we first saw it at ISE, so this time we decided to take a punt.”
Colour Sound Experiment then requisitioned 24 of the new JDC2 IPs for use on BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend, where the LD is long-term GLP user Tom Campbell.
By then they had already seen the impression X5 IP Maxx in action – this time at the LDI Show in November last year. Again, the purchasing decision became a no-brainer. “We didn’t have any GLP wash fixtures and we wanted one to take over from other fixtures we were due to retire,” says Rael Hancock. “The decision was again driven by GLP’s build quality and the quality of the beam.” These are going straight into a major London concert venue.
Concludes GLP key account manager Paul Fielder, who serviced the sales: “Dry Hire Lighting has been a major customer of ours for several years, and we are grateful for their continued support and faith in our innovative LED fixtures.”
