Swiss games manufacturer creates variable, glare-free lighting conditions for e-sports tournaments
Headquartered in Schlieren near Zurich, GIANTS Software GmbH is a games manufacturer specialising in simulation games. With its product ‘Farming Simulator’, the largest games manufacturer in Switzerland is enabling its players to fulfil their dream of building and managing a farm in the most beautiful areas of the world.
With the ‘Farming Simulator League (FSL)’, the company also operates its own e-sports league, with a prize fund of around € 250,000 per season. The tournaments are usually held at leading trade fairs such as Gamescom, Agritechnica, IEM Katowice or Paris Games Week.
e-sports competitions have now become demanding in terms of technical equipment—and the professional lighting of the tournaments is no exception.
For this purpose, the technical team from GIANTS Software was looking for a fixture with RGBW colour mixing, variable frame rate and colour temperature as well as high light output, which at the same time should be absolutely glare-free. With 10 to 15 trade fair appearances per year, the fixtures also needed to be robust and roadworthy.
After a long search and many product tests, the Swiss GLP sales partner, Nova Event Shop, finally proposed the Supernova SN70 from FUSION by GLP to the GIANTS team. Their extremely homogeneous and pixel-free output, with very high light output (60,000 lm), allows variable use as an RGBW floodlight, blinder or strobe. The universally deployable spot is suitable as a stage or backlight, but is equally impressive in TV studios. The colour temperature is adjustable over a wide range from 2,500 to 8,000 Kelvin—and thanks to protection class IP65, the Supernova SN70 can also be used outdoors without any problems.
Tests of the Supernova SN70 convinced the clients, and GIANTS Software invested in an initial batch of six devices in order to subject these to further intensive tests in real conditions. Once again, the fixtures passed the test, resulting in GIANTS Software subsequently expanding its inventory.
"The fixture's diffuser was of fundamental importance to us, as we frequently need to produce a range of brightness without dazzling our e-athletes," explains Claas Eilermann, event manager at GIANTS Software. “These devices fully meet my expectations."
“Working with Nova Event Shop in Switzerland was also very straightforward. The team is always available and their advice is sound."
